Oxford fabrics

Oxford is a synthetic fabric with a highly visible weave. Transverse threads, thicker than the warp, create a fine checkerboard relief. This gives the fabric high strength. Oxford material appeared in the 19th century and was originally made from pure cotton. It was intended for the shirts of Oxford University students, thanks to which, over time, it got its name.
Nylon oxford is a durable, elastic, chemical-resistant material. But it also has disadvantages - it tends to accumulate static electricity and fade, it is afraid of high temperatures.
Polyester oxford is less durable than nylon oxford, but more resistant to fading and heat.
There is also a mixed type of fabric - polyester with cotton to increase breathability.
Modern types of Oxford differ in density and the presence of impregnation. But in any case, the characteristic weaving and synthetic composition give it valuable properties.
Oxford strength varies from 150 to 2000 den and is indicated by markings. The higher the digital indicator, the denser and more embossed the structure.
Advantages of oxford fabric:
- strength
- moisture resistance
- light weight
- resistance to wear and mechanical damage
- ease of care
- with additional processing - fire resistance, impermeability and resistance to chemical reagents.
The texture of the fabric is very pleasant to the touch and easy to use. In products, it practically does not wrinkle, does not absorb dirt and is easily washed, therefore it is especially popular for military, tourist, fishing equipment and overalls.
